On May 14, 2025, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met respectively with President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino) Rolando González Patricio and President of the Central American Parliament Carlos René Hernández Castillo in Beijing.

In his meeting with Rolando González Patricio, Zhao Leji said, President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum and delivered a keynote address, proposing five programs for jointly building a community with a shared future between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries, which charted the course for the development of China-LAC relations from a strategic perspective. The NPC of China is ready to take the Fourth Ministerial Meeting as an opportunity to deepen friendly relations with the Parlatino and promote the effective implementation of the meeting's outcomes. Zhao Leji expressed his belief that the Parlatino will, as always, firmly abide by the one-China principle. Both sides should enhance political mutual trust, jointly create a favorable legal environment and public foundation for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen communication and cooperation in multilateral parliamentary organizations, and contribute, as legislative bodies, to the steady and long-term development of the China-LAC community with a shared future.

Rolando González Patricio said, the Parlatino firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to contribute to the implementation of the outcomes of the China-CELAC Forum, as well as to the building of a community with a shared future between China and LAC countries.

In his meeting with Carlos René Hernández Castillo, Zhao Leji said, the keynote address delivered by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum expounded on the rich dimensions, practical achievements and broad prospects of the important concept of a China-LAC community with a shared future, injecting strong impetus into the joint progress of China and LAC countries. The NPC of China is ready to enhance friendly exchanges with the Central American Parliament, consolidate the political foundations of bilateral relations, promote practical cooperation, strengthen multilateral collaboration, and contribute to the building of the China-LAC community with a shared future. Noting that upholding the one-China principle is the right thing to do and where the public opinion trends and the arc of history bends, Zhao Leji expressed his belief that the Central American Parliament will continue to abide by the one-China principle and firmly support China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Carlos René Hernández Castillo said that the Central American Parliament firmly adheres to the one-China principle, fully supports the five programs proposed by President Xi Jinping for jointly building a China-LAC community with a shared future, and will make unremitting efforts in pursuit of this purpose.
