China Embassy Donates Materials To Model Primary School

As the Chinese New Year is approaching with new goals to further promote cultural and educational exchanges between China and Nigeria, help the development of local schools, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Nigeria, on 29th Jan, donated computers, projectors and other teaching aid materials to the China-Assisted Model Primary School Nyanya, Abuja. 

On behalf of H.E. Chinese Ambassador Dr. Zhou Pingjian, Mr. Li Xuda and other diplomats from the Chinese Embassy were present at the handover ceremony at Nyanya. The donation according to the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy, Mr Li Xuda, is a demonstration of China's friendship with Nigeria, His country is poised to do more, enhance the quality and conducive learning environment for the pupils. 

The FCT Education Secretary, Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Bala Mohammed appreciated the Chinese assistance to the school and wished that the relationship between China and the Nigerian government continues adding that the school is well kept and conducive for learning and however admonished the head teacher and all the staffs to maintain the facilities so that the condition of the school will continue to improve. 

The Finance Head Teacher, China Assisted Model Primary School Nyanya, Hajia Duduyemi Saudat said that the People's Republic of China has been of immense help to the school, always willing to help at any time they beckoned on them for assistance. 

She said that recently China assisted the school with additional classroom blocks well furnished to a standard conducive for learning, "and today again they are donating computers, projectors and other materials and this has encouraged additional intakes into the school", adding that before this Chinese assistance, parents used to pay very expensive school fees to send their children to the private schools around the community but today because of the standard of the school and its affordability parents are queuing to enroll the children in the school. 

Saudat thanked the People's Republic of China for their continuous assistance to the school and assures them of their commitment to make good use of these facilities to better the academic performance of the pupils. 

In the same vein Winifred Anaka, a primary 4 pupil thanked the Chinese people for making her school beautiful and conducive for learning.

The Primary school was wholly constructed, equipped and donated to the FCT Education Board, almost a decade ago, and more block of classrooms constructed last year.
