On May 14, 2026, Ambassador Yu Dunhai met with Charles, Director-General of the Nigerian National Broadcasting Commission, and heads of relevant news media organizations. Counselor Yang Jianxing of the Chinese Embassy was also present.

Ambassador Yu stated that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria, and is also the "China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges." Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Nigeria  relations have entered a period of rapid development. Both sides uphold the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit, actively promoting mutual learning among civilizations and people-to-people exchanges. China appreciates the objective and impartial stance of Nigerian news organizations in their reporting on China and is willing to further deepen media exchanges and cooperation between China and Nigeria.

Charles spoke highly of the mutually beneficial and friendly cooperative relations between China and Nigeria, and expressed his willingness to work with China to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in television, radio, and news media, contributing media strength to the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
