On October 22, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai met with Jani Ibrahim, National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

Ambassador Yu stated that since China extended the zero-tariff treatment for 100% tariff lines to all 53 African countries with diplomatic relations on May 1, 2026, the policy has injected strong impetus into China-Africa and China-Nigeria economic and trade cooperation. The vitality of bilateral trade has been rapidly unleashed, and Nigeria's exports of high-quality products to China have grown significantly. China stands ready to work with Nigeria to advance the negotiation and signing of the agreement on economic partnership for shared development (CADEPA) and, on that basis, establish a long-term institutional arrangement, so as to deliver greater benefits to the two countries and two peoples.
Mr. Ibrahim spoke highly of China's zero-tariff policy. He said that NACCIMA stands ready to give full play to its role as a national business federation, support the competent authorities of the two countries in accelerating the negotiation process, and ensure that the zero-tariff policy delivers long-term benefits to bilateral cooperation at an early date.
