2026-03-04 08:00

On March 3, the “Happy Chinese New Year · Celebration of the Lantern Festival and China-Nigeria Women’s Carnival” was successfully held in Abuja, co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and other organizations. Over 300 guests attended the event, including Mr. Yang Jianxing, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy; Mr. Yawale, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy of Nigeria; and Mr. Ngome Abiaga, Juste Jean Paul, Head of the UNESCO Abuja Office.

In his speech, Mr. Yang Jianxing noted that the event aimed to enhance Nigerians’ understanding of Chinese Spring Festival culture, implement the outcomes of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, and deepen exchanges and cooperation in women’s causes between China and Nigeria.

Mr. Yawale stated in his address that he hoped the event would strengthen bilateral cooperation in culture, tourism, and other fields, and provide women with more valuable opportunities to showcase their talents and drive economic growth.

Mr. Ngome remarked that the event served as a bridge for enhancing understanding, expressing the hope to strengthen partnerships with China and Nigeria and promote greater development and progress in women’s causes.

The event comprised a concert, a Chinese Zodiac Culture Exhibition, and an Exhibition on Achievements of Digital Empowerment for Women and Girls, with a jubilant and lively atmosphere on site.
