On November 4, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai met with H.E. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State.

Ambassador Yu stated that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Bola Tinubu, the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has developed rapidly and entered a new stage of high-quality development. Taraba State enjoys a favorable geographical location, abundant resources and remarkable development potential. Last week, the Communist Party of China (CPC) successfully convened the Fifth Plenary Session of its 20th Central Committee, making systematic arrangements for advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance with perseverance. China is ready to strengthen exchanges of governance experience with Taraba State, fully release the dividends of the zero-tariff policy, and empower the upgrading of bilateral relations through local cooperation.

Governor Agbu spoke highly of the CPC’s excellent governance effectiveness and the achievements of practical Nigeria-China cooperation. He thanked China for its long-standing support for Nigeria’s economic and social development, and said that Taraba State is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in agriculture, mining, manufacturing and infrastructure, and looks forward to establishing sister-city relationships with Chinese provinces and cities to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and deliver greater benefits to the two peoples.
