On August 10, 2024, H.E. Yu Dunhai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS), arrived in Abuja to assume his duties.

Upon his arrival, Ambassador Yu was warmly greeted by Minister Counselor Zhang Yi, Minister Counselor Wang Yingqi, Counsellor Li Xuda of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Felix Obiozor, Deputy Chief of Protocol and Senior Protocol Officer and other officials from Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of Chinese enterprises based in Nigeria. Ambassador Yu held a friendly talk with Mr. Obiozor at the airport.

Ambassador Yu said that it is a great honor to serve as the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, and he’s ready to fulfill this lofty mission and responsibility. He stressed that China and Nigeria enjoy friendly bilateral relations and strong traditional friendship, and he looks forward to working with the Nigerian side to advance China-Nigeria relations and bring more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.

Mr. Obiozor warmly welcomed Ambassador Yu on behalf of the Nigerian side and assured him of Nigeria's full support to his endeavors. 

Ambassador Yu Dunhai is the 15th Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria and 7th Chinese Ambassador to ECOWAS.
